Southside Quay apartments are right on the Newcastle/Gateshead quayside and right on trend. Explore the bustling arts, music and culture scene from a haven of monsoon showers, soft-cotton bedding, free wifi and comfy Chesterfield sofas. Get up to a dozen together and do Newcastle in comfort.
Pick from a two-bedroomed apartment or our studio directly beneath, both sleeping up to six. Wander out to the balcony, with the Millennium Bridge spanning the quay like a rainbow below. The pot of gold’s right there, in the form of nightlife, shopping, fine dining, history and world-class culture.
Cook in modern kitchenettes, eat in spacious dining areas, and pour a glass of red or a Dolce Gusto as you gaze out at the iconic Tyne Bridge. Head out at night for cocktails, culture and craft beer at the Baltic Centre. Sleep it off between Egyptian-cotton sheets, then do it all again tomorrow.
Imagine a boutique hotel with exquisite furnishing, Chesterfield sofas as big and welcoming as a hug from a long-lost friend, wooden flooring, heavy curtains, velour chairs, and quirky, loveable décor. Think antique clocks, exposed-brick and a two-tier bar table with high stools that’s ripe for cocktails.
That’s 134 Southside Quay, our two-bed apartment. But it’s not a hotel, which means you get to choose your own guests. So you come and go as you please, watch a little cable TV and plunder the free wifi in good company, all while you survey Newcastle’s quayside playground from the outdoor-balcony seating.
118 Southside Quay is just as lush and luxurious. Fully carpeted in grey, with a 34-foot living space that curves its way with a natural flow into the bedroom, this is a slice of designer living that oozes quality. Savour it with a smooth latte from the Dolce Gusto machine.
As darkness falls, put your feet up beneath the pendant ceiling lights, tap into the Bluetooth soundtrack, plug into the free wifi or catch a little cable TV. Want to watch real life go by? There’s furniture on the balcony ready for you to gaze out at the Millennium bridge and the endless rush of the quayside revellers.
Stay in a boutique hotel and your choice of dinner is restricted to whatever’s on the menu. In our apartments, you’ll enjoy the same luxury but with a well-equipped kitchenette with oven, hob and microwave. So you get to make your own menu. Get creative with some local caster kippers, stottie cake and a swish of Newcy Brown.
Eat around the six-berth dining table in the two-bed apartment, or cosy-up as a couple with a lit candle on the small glass table in the studio. Open the balcony doors, let the night air in and feast on the sight of the Newcastle nightlife as it buzzes around the Millennium Bridge.
Head out there yourself to sample a smorgasbord of cultural cuisine, or call up Jacob and Tori for a fine-dining meal in your own apartment complete with professional waiters. Or maybe dial-up Deliveroo for fresh orders from fine eateries such as Jamie’s Italian, Carluccio’s or Las Iguanas.
Pop out to eat at Six, just seconds away, with its stunning rooftop restaurant, to 21, a classic modern bistro with sassy service and a good-time feel, or to Peace and Loaf, a fine-dining restaurant in leafy Jesmond. Or push the boat out and sample the tasting menus at House of Tides, Newcastle’s only Michelin-starred restaurant.
Across the two apartments, you’ve got three bedrooms to bag, but flexibility comes built-in in the shape of guest beds and sofa beds.
In the two-bed apartment, the main bedroom comes with sumptuous Egyptian cotton and a superking-size bed described over and again in reviews as the comfiest bed in the world.
A deliciously contemporary en-suite bathroom offers a reviving monsoon shower and neon-lit mirror. A superking, two guest beds in the second bedroom and double sofa bed in the lounge make sleeping for eight possible. On summer nights, open the balcony doors and drift off to the soothing sounds of the late-night city.
In the studio, the living area curves beautifully into the generous single bedroom, encouraging sweet dreams with a similarly sumptuous superking and two single guest beds in here allow sleeping for another four in the studio.
