Who needs a garden when the beach and the breakers practically lap at the door? Estuary Point delivers that but it also comes with an enclosed courtyard for dogs. You’ll find your ten-seat hot tub here for some well-earned relaxation. There are deck chairs on hand for you to use to keep you comfortable on the seashore.
Cook on the gas barbecue with meat from the farmers’ market and local butchers and fish from The Salty, and spend time under the retractable awning with fine wine and good company. Or hop across the road with your chargrilled feast and enjoy it with on the beach during low tide.
Living spaces
Bright, breezy and thoroughly quirky in blues and yellows, the interiors at Estuary Point are what the seaside is all about. With views across the bay with its bobbing boats, ferries, maybe the odd dolphin, and the excited chatter of children carried on the breeze, it’ll take a lot to prise you away from the sash windows.
Maybe you’ll prefer the spacious, luxurious sitting-room with open plan dining option. Or close off the bi-fold doors and get cosy together for the full Sky and BT packages, including sports, plus Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Let your competitive side out on the pool table and table football in the games room. Tuck into the Prosecco and biscuits from your hamper, dip into the full bookcase and break out the board games. You’re just getting started.
Cooking and dining
Kitchen options are good, with the range cooker and dual oven plus a portable oven and air fryer. Prefer to be out on the sand rather than in front of the stove? We have professional chefs on standby. And you’ve an abundance of fresh, fishy or otherwise takeaways on your doorstep, including Thai Smile and Eastern Eye.
Eat around the feast-friendly 20-seat dining table or around the equally large patio table in the garden. Fire up the gas barbecue and stock up the fridges with goodies from the village store, Morrison’s and traditional village staples, such as the farmers’ market, The Salty for fish and Orsman’s butchers for your bangers.
Raise a glass on the village green when you wash down your curried lamb shank or moules marinieres with a real ale at the London Inn. Stay beachside for the dog-friendly Ferry Boat, home to great views, a garden grill and merry live music. Or tuck into fresh, fishy fare on the balcony or river terrace at The Clipper.
Pop into The Bucket and Spade for a Bucket Burger, pesto gnocchi or three-bean chilli. Try The Crab Shack in Teignmouth for mussels, oysters and crab claws. Or head to The Thatched Tavern in Maidencombe for cider-steamed Exmouth mussels, ale-battered haddock or spiced aubergine and artichoke caponata.
Bedrooms
Sleep like a moored boat right on the estuary, lulled into dreamland by the seaside sound of the gulls, the gannets, the guillemots and the lapping of the water on Shaldon beach. Estuary Point sleeps up to 18 in seven bedrooms.
En-suite bedroom one sleeps two in a kingsize bed plus a cot and room for zed-beds. Enjoy estuary and beach views and relax in front of your 42” TV. Bedroom two is another kingsize that also fits a cot and a zed-bed. It comes with 55” TV and hill views.
Bedroom three has a kingsize, 42” TV and river and beach views, while bedroom four is a zip-and-link kingsize with 42” TV and Shaldon Hills views. Bedroom five is the master en-suite loft room, complete with superking bed, river and views to Dartmouth, Shaldon and Teignmouth beaches, plus space for zed-beds.
En-suite bedroom six is another kingsize, with views over Shaldon beach and Teignmouth back beach. It comes with two additional trundle-style loft beds. Bedroom seven is a single with estuary and beach views.
