The champagne’s on ice, the straws sit in the cocktail glasses, the colourful cushions in the smart yard are plumped and the keys to the city are yours. Liverpool Townhouse, with its triple-pillared Georgian opulence, grandly fronts Catharine Street, just off Upper Parliament Street, close to the beating heart of Liverpool.
Your hunt for a hot tub won’t yield much, but Liverpool Townhouse does offer a high-spec finish, the perfect location to make merry in one of the UK’s most-buzzing cities, and beds. Lots of beds. In fact, you can get up to 30 thirsty stags, hens or other party people under one roof without losing the two large-screen TVs.
Outside, some al-fresco carnivorousness on the coal barbie in the yard beckons. Or maybe you’ll just head right on into the city. And why not? From superclubs to real-ale pubs, dance warehouses to comedy spots on the waterfront, and the buzzing Baltic Triangle to Anfield and Goodison, it’s all close at hand.
There’s no bubbling hot tub or pool here. Instead, there’s space for a party. That’s outdoors as well as in. Out in the gravelled yard, the coal barbie stands ready for the sizzle of sausages and there’s seating for a small army.
Two tables and chairs with parasols mean you can eat al fresco, but cleverly positioned, comfy colourful cushions that line the low wall mean you can all make merry together.
You’ll want to head out into Liverpool’s party playground, but coming back here’s a blast, too. Décor’s cool and contemporary and light floods the living room from the big sash windows. Adjust the animal-print cushions on the leather sofas above the wooden flooring, crack open a can or pour a Pimm’s, and chill.
There’s in-house entertainment aplenty here, with one 50” TV and another 42”. Mingle around a movie or catch a match on Freeview or Sky. Tap into the fast TalkTalk wifi, download music from your smartphone to the iPod dock, or raid the bookcase for reading matter.
Call out for kebabs or Chinese, or do it yourself on the electric oven, gas hob and microwave, then pile it all in the dishwasher when you’re done. Eat out in the gravelled courtyard or let us set up the 16-seater dining table in the lounge. Want us to cook? We can organise a one-off celebration or fully catered break.
If you like the sound of steak sizzling in the sunshine while the Prosecco and beers chill, the barbie comes with coal at no cost. There’s plenty seating around the tables and chairs beneath the parasols or on the comfy cushions that line the low wall. Be together, smile and keep your glass topped up.
Head out into the Georgian Quarter to eat at the Blackburne Pub and Eatery for trio of fish, or maybe scallops with black pudding, pancetta and crispy kale, special main of smokey burger, or vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Or pop round to Peter Kavanagh’s for Georgian features, real ale and quirky bands.
Head into town for multicultural cuisine, including British at the Heritage Restaurant, Chinese at Lady Jade or the Big Bowl Noodle Bar, or Italian at Bacaro or Veeno. Go Indian at Yukti Street Fusion or Remora, or sample a succulent steak at Cowshed. Elevate your experience with fine dining at Panoramic 34 or 60 Hope Street.
There’s an epic bedfest going on at Liverpool Townhouse. White bedding, crisp cotton sheets, and white blinds and walls above oak flooring combine for a pleasingly minimalist look with pink accents. Pick from rooms that sleep from two to seven in single beds and sofa beds.
Bedroom one sleeps two in two singles, while bedroom two sleeps five in singles with an en-suite. Bedroom three is an en-suite sleeping three, and bedroom four sleeps four, also with en-suite facilities.
Bedroom five contains seven singles, while bedrooms six and seven in the basement each take two. Two double sofa beds in the lounge and a temporary folding bed bring the grand total to 30.
