Garden and grounds
Pubs don’t have gardens. What you do get is exclusive access through the bi-fold doors to the beer garden with its access to the River Ancholme. This is a generous covered outdoor terrace where you can watch the river roll by over a beer or two. Park up to 16 cars at the rear of the pub and bring your own boat for your own exclusive mooring.
Living spaces
You’re living in a pub – yes, actually – so bring your own drinks and stock the bar as you wish*. Fully refurbished, the bar area’s deceptively spacious. Gather, sing, chat and watch TV in the intimate snug and piano bar, then let life flow into the open-plan games and dining areas. Slide out through the bi-folds to the terrace for a beer over the river.
Pub games? Of course. Right by the bar, you’ve got a pool table, darts, retro games arcade and giant Scrabble on the wall. Fire up the zoned sound system and move the pool table into a storage area to accommodate your dancing feet. Recover in the snug with a coffee and a glowing fire. Enjoy two further day rooms in the adjoining cottage.

Cooking and dining
The fully refurbished Sergeant’s Inn comes with a high-end kitchen that flows easily into the front snug and dining area overlooking the riverside garden, seating 40 in various combinations. Cook on the three ovens or call in The Blind Swine for that gastropub experience – or consider Scandi or Thai options for a one-off or fully catered stay.
Right in the heart of Brigg, the best takeaways are just steps away. So step out to the China Royal for Chinese, Yellowbelly Pizza, or The Mint for Indian. Tesco’s visible from the pub for daily essentials and Barnard butcher’s over the road can meet your meat needs. Grab brunchy stuff from The Deli and Diner.
Just yards from the pedestrianised area of Brigg, you’ll have an instant pub crawl on your doorstep. For fish and chips, scampi and other favourites, including vegan options, stroll over to The Yarborough Arms. Hop over to The Hop Inn for real ales and The Vault for cocktails. Or consider The Lord Nelson Inn for some traditional home cooked food.
The best takeaways are also the best restaurants and they’re all just a potter away. Tuck into traditional Chinese at China Royal. Head to Yellowbelly Pizza for toppings with a lively twist. Eat Indian at The Mint. Enjoy Mediterranean taster menus at The Atrium. Or pop into The Pantry for breakfast, brunch or lunch.
Bedrooms
Sleep to the gentle roll of the river in 15 boutique bedrooms and 2 additional cottage snugs sleeping up to 40.
Bedrooms one and two both offer a Hypnos kingsize bed and en-suite with walk-in shower, while en-suite bedroom three comes with a riverside view, Hypnos kingsize and one full-size single Hypnos trundle bed. Bedrooms four and five are Hypnos kingsizes with en-suites and walk-in showers. Hypnos sofa beds can be made up in the two additional cottage snugs, sleeping another four.
Bedrooms six and seven each sleep three in a Hypnos kingsize bed and one full-size single Hypnos trundle bed plus en-suite with walk-in shower. Bedroom eight has a Hypnos kingsize and en-suite with bath and shower over, while bedroom nine is a family room with shared bathroom, Hypnos kingsize bed and Hypnos single.
Bedrooms ten, 11 and 12 have a shared bathroom and two Hypnos singles. Bedroom 13 is a twin with an extra bed and bedroom 14 is a family room with kingsize, single and shared bathroom. En-suite bedroom 15 offers a Hypnos kingsize and en-suite with walk-in shower. Hypnos sofa beds can be made up in the cottage, sleeping another four.
