Get the fire going and fire up the 66” surround-sound LCD television. Pick from Sky, Netflix, and Amazon Prime, or dig through the DVDs and load up the Blu-ray player. Need a diversion? Play a little pool in the games room and refuel at the bar, or just raid the books and board games.
Reception rooms at White Rose Hall are perfectly geared up for reunions and celebrations that cross the generations. Get together over cards or charades, stream the superfast wifi, and chew the fat in front of the fire in a place that marries 17th-century English charm with the best of modern convenience.
Cooking and dining
Through the main dining room, White Rose Hall connects with its Georgian past. Hand-made fabrics and period furniture compete for your attention with the parquet floor and baroque chandelier. With 16 guests, you’ll need a big table, and this one delivers. Eat here or out on the terrace beneath the grand sky and the woodpigeons.
Always wanted to cook on an Aga? Take your pick: we have two. While you’re preparing fresh fare from Peckford Farm Produce in the 350-square-foot kitchen-diner, chop and chat with friends and family or just entertain yourself with Netflix, Sky and Amazon Prime on the 44” smart TV. The eight-seat table is great for early-risers.
Facilities? Oh yes. How about hot and warm grill plates, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, toaster, separate electric oven, microwave, and water softener? If you’d still prefer to be catered for, just say the word. Or pop out to the High Street to the Queen o’ t’ owd Thatch for ales and cocktails in a rustic-chic local.
The Maltings Tearooms is tempting for cheesecake, brownies, blondies, and Mr Whippy ice cream, all washed down with pots of tea. Or head to the big bad city for fine dining at Dakota Grill or Tattu Leeds. Eat Indian along Bradford’s Leeds Road, perhaps the curry capital of the world, or Italian at PizzaLuxe, and Chinese at Sweet Basil Valley.
Bedrooms
Five bedrooms here sleep 16 and you’ll feel like royalty among flatscreen TVs, luxury en-suites and rolltop baths. Immerse yourself in grandeur.
The air-conditioned master bedroom offers carefully crafted details mixing tradition with contemporary comfort. Fully restored antique furnishings and rugs wrap around a queen-sized bed dressed in finest cottons and throws. Refresh in the walk-in shower and deep bath.
Live it up in three rooms in the East Wing Suite, to include bedroom, en-suite bathroom and sitting room. Lap up the queen-style bed, baroque furniture, and big views. Keep your toes toasty in the en-suite with underfloor heating. Or how about the 160-square-foot West Wing Suite, a kingsize with Egyptian sheets and contemporary furniture?
The North Wing Suite comes with exquisite craftsmanship, hand-stitched fabrics and a kingsize bed fitted with Egyptian-cotton sheets, while the South Wing Suite offers three rooms eclectically dressed in Georgian antiques and contemporary pieces. There’s a double bed fitted with Egyptian cotton, a dressing room and walk-in shower.
Children welcome
Kids love space, and White Rose hall delivers it in abundance. There’s nine acres of land here in which to go wild in the country, and ample square footage indoors. Best of all, with space for 16, they’ll be doing it with all their nearest and dearest. And your best friend of all? Four legs are always welcome here.

Out in the fresh Yorkshire air, a football and set of goalposts should allow for a little steam to blow off. But gentler souls can have a go at garden croquet. Back inside, there’s a pool table in the games room, and books and board games will slow the pace as dusk descends.
Tears at bedtime? Maybe not here. With their choice of giant suite, plus smart TV, they’ll feel like pampered princes and princesses. Watch out for midnight fridge raiders.
