Tranquillity broken only by birdsong

At The Manor House in the Vale of Evesham, the leafy arbours, lavender gardens and air of tranquillity are broken only by birdsong. You’ll join the gentry as you take tea on the lawn, rustle up a roast for 20, explore the endless acres and sleep like a log in the four-poster bed.

Join the gentry

Take your place among the elite, where two acres of semi-formal gardens merge seamlessly with the verdant sweep of the Vale of Evesham. The Manor House mixes 400 years of history with leafy arbours, lavender gardens and an air of tranquillity broken only by birdsong.

This is England as it once was – the England of Lords and Ladies, manors and good manners, of hats removed during the National Anthem, and of tea taken on the lawn in the shade of the ancient chestnut tree.

The day begins around the farmhouse table in the flagstoned kitchen. Light the logs, cup your coffee in both hands and brown your toast over the fire. Potter the box gardens or the market town of Evesham, and return to a feast for 20, drinks in the courtyard or fireside film nights.

There’s ‘Me Time’ on tap in sumptuous bedrooms, secluded sitting rooms for crosswords and coffee, a pub to potter to, and acres of Old England to explore. Victorian quirk comes care of a two-seater bathroom and secret tunnel to one of the double rooms. No squabbling now, kids.

Gardens and Grounds

When you book your holiday, drop a note of thanks to the landed gentry. They made all this possible. The leafy arbours, the lavender and box knot garden, the sweeping lawns that arc away into the Vale of Evesham.

Imposing and grand as The Manor House is, it might be the outdoors that beckons the most. Deep within the fruit and vegetable basket of England, the lawns demand a spot of cricket or croquet and the luscious landscaping begs to be explored before supper.

Pop a cork or two in the flagged courtyard, dine al fresco, take a picnic in the grounds. The gardens at The Manor House are a place to drop your cares and simply dream.

Living Spaces

The Manor House is a place for families and friends to be together. That could be around the farmhouse table in the flagstoned kitchen/diner, a cosy spot for coffee and cake in front of roaring logs. Or it could be in the sitting room, as oriental as a Persian rug. Gather around the piano for an evening of old-fashioned entertainment.

For a different perspective, the second sitting room is lighter and more airy, offering a garden-room feel. It’s a place to escape for a spot of R and R over a G and T. Break out your books or have a crack at that crossword.

For family film nights, the Drawing room comes equipped with a large television, Freeview and DVD players. Come together where tradition meets contemporary living in a cocoon of English charm.

Cooking and Dining

Follow the flagged courtyard through the kitchen door, into a tactile world of flagstone floors, low beams and a quirky, higgledy-piggledy mantelpiece. This is the heart of the home, a melting pot of pots, pans and personalities with tales to tell dating back 400 years.

Set the logs crackling and get cracking on catching up with your nearest and dearest. This is the place to gather for coffee and croissants, for afternoon cake and for long conversations into the small hours.

The dining room is big and baronial with its stone floor, elbow room in spades and space for 20. If you’re a budding Blumenthal, you’ll love the facilities and the fruits of the land in the orchard of England.

If you’d prefer to put your feet up with a French red, just say the word and our chef will come running. We even have a specialist kitchen for the purpose! Everything is possible, from a special occasion to a fully catered holiday. Just whistle and we’ll even wash the pots, too.

Bedrooms

There might be a commotion over accommodation at The Manor House. All ten rooms are stylish and spacious, but the first floor is where the juicy pickings lie. Take your pick from our superking four-poster room, a spacious king-size room with fabulous views, an elegant single room or a king-size en-suite.

Fans of The Famous Five will love the first-floor twin room, and the double they’ll discover through a secret tunnel. From here, it’s up, up and away into the attic, where you’ll find a further twin room, a triple room with spacious ensuite and two double bedrooms.

Push the boat out, gather the whole clan together and we’ll find more beds, sleeping up to 22. Each room is unique, bursting with character in every creak of the wooden flooring. If you need to be around the kids, rooms are perfect for the suite life and our cots make bringing baby a breeze.

With six bath and shower rooms on offer, there’ll be no fussing and cussing at anyone indulging in a slow soak.
